SHOW JUMPING

Horse Grand Prix

The Horse Grand Prix sees the country’s top show jumpers go head to head over a 1.40-1.45m course. With big jumps and the intense atmosphere of the Equidays indoor arena, this class is always an impressive show of skill and training and truly showcases the thrilling sport of show jumping.

The Horse Grand Prix will take place during the Friday night show in the indoor arena.

Pony Grand Prix

Similar to the Horse Grand Prix, the Pony Grand Prix attracts the elite up-and-coming show jumpers on their smaller mounts. With a maximum rider age of 17 and a maximum pony height of 148cm these pint-sized combinations will jump around a course of jumps in the outdoor competition arena.

JLT Bloodstock Pony 6 Bar

The Pony 6 Bar involves riders aged under 17 and their diminutive mounts battling it out in a high jump contest involving six ascending vertical jumps in a straight line. Combinations may only progress to the next, higher round if they jump the line cleanly without faults. It is not unusual for the winner to jump 1.50m – taller than the ponies themselves.

Series Classes and Other Show Jumping

In 2017 Equidays will offer a range of national series classes for show jumpers to contest. Providing avenues for riders and horses to compete against those in the same age or experience group, the national series classes are hotly contested at many shows over the show jumping season. A full schedule of show jumping classes will be available soon.
