Farriers from all over New Zealand will be competing in the 2017 Equidays Farrier Competition.  It will be a show of speed, muscle and skill as they compete against the clock and each other in an attempt to win some fabulous prizes kindly donated by P3 Equestrian, Bryant Farrier, Maneline and Equine Specialists.

Competitors will range from apprentices keen to show off what they have learnt to date, to qualified farriers with years of experience behind them.

Competitions are being held on both Friday and Saturday with both days showcasing forging skills and shoe making & fitting.  Friday will include a tool making class and Saturday the always popular Heavy Horse 3 Man Team which has the farriers working in a team prepping and shoeing the stunning Clydesdale horses.

The farriers will compete under the watchful eye of Judge Craig Jones – Head Tutor at Gatton Farrier College in Queensland, Australia.

Come along and support your farrier – they’ll appreciate it!
